What Will Students Get Out of a Visit to the Park?

Can Students Attend a Presentation?

Park Guides give daily talks for park visitors. Your school group is welcome to attend these talks and it is best to advise if you are attending, when you make your group booking. If you would like a guide to talk on a particular topic, this can also be arranged, subject to availability. This must be organised in advance.  Itineraries can also be tailored towards the classes areas of study and within the time allocated for the park visit.

What are Some Suggested Themes for Park Visits?

Listed below are some themes for school visits relating directly to the Education Strand curriculum:

1. Bush Fire in Northern Australia
2. Feral Animal Control
3. Habitats and Ecosystems
4. Seasonal Change
5. Environmental Days (pdf 800Kb)

Toilets, Taps and Tucker

Toilets

Toilets are located at the Main Station, near the Aquarium and at the Monsoon Forest (See Park map for details). It is recommended that you plan toilet stops at appropriate times during your visit.

Taps

Drinking water taps are located throughout the Park, but it is recommended that each student bring a named water bottle to avoid congestion. This is especially important if the weather is hot.

Tucker

Kids usually need one or more food breaks during a visit. Food and drink may not be taken on the trains or into the Aquarium or the Nocturnal House. Rubbish bins are provided throughout the Park.

Seating areas for eating can be found in the Picnic Ground behind the Main Station. Class food boxes may be stored behind the Guide’s Information Desk.

There is a cafe on site, which provides snacks or meals and can cater for groups with prior notice. An adult must accompany students at all times in the cafe.

The picnic area also has a shaded playground area for use at recess and lunch breaks.

Please read Territory Wildlife Park's Code of Conduct (pdf 12Kb) prior to your class visit.

How Do I Make a Booking?

It is important to make a booking for your school group so that we can help you make the most of your time at the Park. Booking Forms (pdf 225Kb) can be faxed to (08) 8988 7201 or emailed to twp@nt.gov.au.

The Park expects an adult to student visitor ratio of 1:10 for class visits. You can bring one adult free of charge for every five students. You will need some keen Mums and Dads or teaching assistants to accompany you and actively supervise students.
